An early look at the Mopars of Forza Horizon

Forza Horizon is more than a month away but Turn 10, the
company responsible for all of the Forza racing games, has slowly been issuing
images on their Facebook page of some of the vehicles coming to the first open
road Forza racing simulator.

Through this pictorial unveiling system via Facebook, Turn
10 has introduced the first look at the 2012 Dodge Charger SRT8 and the 2012 Dodge Viper SRT10 ACR-X (shown above).  Notice, Turn 10 calls the Viper SRT10 ACR-X a
2012 model although the last of the Dodge Viper model years was 2010.  It will be interesting to see if this mistake
is actually present on Forza Horizon or if it was just a keystroke error by
whoever posted about it on their Facebook page.

In addition to the Charger SRT8 and
the Viper ACR-X, Forza Horizon will feature the 2013 SRT Viper GTS which
allegedly appears in the opening scene of the game.  The new SRT Viper will also serve as the
cover model for the new game when it arrives on October 26th.

Next, the 2012 Dodge Challenger SRT8 392 will
be included for those who pre-ordered the game from the proper retail outlet
with this car also being available for use in Forza Motorsport 4.  The 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, the Jeep Grand
Cherokee SRT8 and a 1971 Plymouth Hemi Cuda will also be available for gameplay
in Horizon.  The grainy images of the
Grand Cherokee SRT8 make it hard to tell whether it will be a 6.1L first
generation model or the far more powerful second generation super ute with the
392 cubic inch Hemi.  In either case, it
should be pretty awesome.

Forza Horizon will also feature
traffic cars that are not involved in the race but appear on the roads, as this
is Turn 10’s first game that takes place on public roads.  A late 1990s Dodge Durango and a Chrysler PT
Cruiser have been spotted in still shots and short videos of gameplay but
gamers will likely not be able to drive those models.

Forza Horizon is the first in the
series to feature off road racing and I would be stunned if we didn’t see a Ram
pickup included in the upcoming game ahead of the October debut.  I also expect to see some DSM models like an
Eagle Talon along with more Vipers and possibly more SRT models including the
Dodge Neon SRT4 and perhaps the Chrysler 300C SRT8.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
