A clearer preview of the Mopars coming to SEMA
The folks at the Chrysler Group’s Mopar division had a short
press conference today following by a live streaming segment where the company walked
viewers through a small collection of the 20+ Moparized models coming to the
2012 SEMA Show. For those who weren’t able
to watch that video, here is a quick rundown preview of those teaser drawings
we saw last week.
From the Dodge brand, Mopar showed off two customized models
including a new Dodge Dart and a 2013 Dodge Charger R/T that were joined by a
custom Fiat 500 Convertible and a Chrysler 300C. From the Ram brand, there was a heavily
modified 1500 regular cab alongside a Jeep Grand Cherokee clad in a variety of
common Mopar accessories. Finally, while
there was no 2013 SRT Viper at the event today, Mopar did show images of a
customized Viper that will make its debut in a few weeks in Vegas. Below is a quick look at each of these cars
that we will see on the SEMA Show floor in November.
Dodge Charger Juiced
On the outside, this modified Dodge Charger R/T features a unique lower front
fascia area, a unique hood with a front mounted air intake and a unique paint
scheme featuring both bright metallic orange along with a unique matte finish
on the hood, roof and trunk. A Mopar
suspension package lowers the Charger over a set of new 20″ lightweight wheels
that have been designed for the SRT lineup.
Most importantly, the Charger Juiced features a 8.4L Viper V10 crate
engine that produces 650 horsepower with the help of a Mopar cold air intake
and a cat back exhaust system.
Dodge Dart Carbon Fire
The Dodge Dart is touted by Chrysler as being the most customizable vehicle in
the company sedan segment and a variety of current and future Mopar accessories
have come together to create the Carbon Fire.
Across the front end, this Dart features unique fog light bezels with
the LED running lights from the Grand Cherokee SRT8, a carbon fiber hood,
smoked headlights and a grille finish that replaces the familiar Dodge
crosshairs with a mesh design. Along the
side, new 19″ Mopar lightweight wheels give the car a sportier stance while a three
piece rear deck lid spoiler and smoked tail lights bolster the aggressive look. Oddly, this does not appear to be the Dart
teaser in last week’s artwork but Mopar has promised more Dart sedans at SEMA.
Urban Ram
The Urban Ram doesn’t look that extreme with a Mopar body kit, a set of 22″ R/T
wheels painted black, a hard tonneau cover and a stripe package that runs along
the driver’s side of the hood, roof and bed cover while massive, reflective
Mopar decals cover the bedsides. This
looks very much like it could be the 2013 Ram Sport or something along those
lines – until you open the hood. This
Ram is powered by the 470 horsepower 392 cubic inch Hemi from the SRT lineup
along with an SRT big brake package and a tuned suspension system.
Fiat 500C Beach Cruiser
The Fiat 500 Convertible shown here wears the distinct West Coast style with
matte black paint, some bright painted old school rims, unique aluminum items
across the front end including a very cool chin spoiler and – of course – the incredible
wide body package that widens that 500C by a total of 8 inches. Inside, the Fiat 500 Beach Cruiser sports a
beach themed interior complete with wooden floor inlays that match the finished
wood on the massive surf board laden roof rack.
Moparized 2013 SRT Viper
Last and most certainly not least was a vehicle that had not been teased before
today and that is, of course, the amazing 2013 SRT Viper. This car was shown to us only in artwork form
but we were promised that this “base” Viper would feature an upgraded suspension
package, a new aerodynamics kit, the unique yellow color scheme inside and out
and the Mopar Track Pack wheels pained hyper black. More importantly, this Mopar modified Viper
features a new carbon fiber underhood X brace that weighs half as much as the
standard metal unit found in production Vipers along with a new carbon fiber
and aluminum engine cover. Inside, this
Viper features unique black and yellow perforated Katzkin leather seats with
unique yellow trim on the dash and in the door panels. This is one vehicle that we will definitely
talk about more once the 2012 SEMA Show begins.
Jeep Wrangler Sand Trooper
The Jeep Wrangler teaser in the artwork last week was not present today but Mopar
offered us an idea of what to expect and in addition to the extended wheel
flares, the massive bead lock wheels wrapped in high performance off road
tires, the winch equipped front bumper and the rear camera system – this Wrangler
is powered by a modified 5.7L Hemi crate motor.
