In the month of April 2013, the Chrysler Group shipped 60 examples of the 2013 SRT Viper and Viper GTS to dealerships and the open arms of lucky new owners around the country. April marks the third month of deliveries for the new Viper with 60 in April following 3 in March and 1 in February for a total of 64 new Mopar supercars shipped from the Connor Ave plant.
In addition to 60 new SRT Vipers being shipped in April, the Connor Avenue Assembly Plant completed the production of 92 new Vipers. When combined with those Vipers built since the beginning of the 2013 calendar year, 278 new Vipers have been hand built in Detroit. The company has openly been conducting rigorous quality control checks on the new supercar before sending them out, which is what is causing the delay between when production is completed and when the cars are shipped to dealerships. With the 64 Vipers that were shipped at the end of April, there should be approximately 214 SRT Viper and Viper GTS models currently in the quality control phase – a figure which should lead to a continued increase in delivery numbers as we get into the summer months.
Odds are good that a great many of the DF’ers reading this aren’t waiting for more 2013 SRT Viper deliveries so they can run out and buy one, but the more new Vipers delivered by Chrysler – the greater the chances of seeing one of the new American supercars in your area. Even if the rate of delivery doesn’t increase over the next few months, there should be close to 200 new Vipers on the road by the time the Mopar Nationals arrive in Columbus in mid-August so the Mopar diehards that make the trip to Ohio will likely get to see the new Viper cruising Brice Road.
