"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.
"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.
"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.
"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.
"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.
While I always enjoy a good smokey Cummins Turbo Diesel video, there is just something so wonderfully fun about watching a Dodge Ram roll coal…like the 2nd gen Ram in this week’s Black Friday video. This video doesn’t have quite as much smoke as some Black Friday features, but this Ram’s smoke show has been […] More »
The Chrysler Group and Dodge brand CEO Tim Kuniskis have announced that there will be a big debut on August 16th at the 2014 Woodward Dream Cruise near Detroit and that model – teased as the “next ultimate performance vehicle” – will be introduced to invited media next Wednesday, August 13th. No other information of […] More »
Many of the critics of the modern Dodge Challenger – including plenty Mopar fans here on DodgeForum.com – have long voiced an issue with the hefty curb weight of the brawny muscle car. Many Dodge lovers had hoped to see some weight reduction with the new 2015 Challenger, but that was not meant to be, […] More »
Drifting can be tricky so even if you have a truck like the Dodge Ram SRT10 Regular Cab shown in this week’ Truckin Fast video, you should not try this at home and you definitely shouldn’t try doing this in a similar situation as the Ram shown in action below. Drifting can lead to all […] More »
The 1991 Dodge Spirit R/T doesn’t often get the respect that it deserves in the performance world so with this week’s Tire Shredding Tuesday segment, I bring you one of those turbocharged sedans doing a crazy burnout at a big Mopar show. Now, some will criticize this Dodge for only smoking the right front tire, […] More »
This week’s Muddy Monday clip features an awesome 2nd gen Dodge Ram sporting a massive suspension setup that has the cab sitting higher than the roofline of most factory Ram trucks – allowing it to easily tear through the deep mud. Making the video even more fun to watch is the fact that this is […] More »
This week’s Black Friday feature brings you 3rd gen quad cab Dodge Ram powered by a heavily modified Cummins Turbo Diesel engine that allows this big rig to roll coal and destroy the rear tires. This might be one of my favorite Ram videos that we have featured due to the fact that it is […] More »
