While I don’t think that I have ever featured a non-Chrysler Group vehicle or thread on the DF Front Page, today’s Cool Thread feature focuses on a car that at one point was a cousin to the Dodge brand prior to a messy divorce. Norge is a proud Dodge owner but while living overseas, he wanted something that was both fun to drive and functional so he ordered a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX Wagon – a sporty 5-door that we don’t get here in the United States.
As the former owner of a turbo all wheel drive Plymouth Laser (Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX) and the current owner of a 2002 Dodge Stratus R/T Coupe (Mitsubishi Eclipse GTS), I have a soft spot in my heart for Mitsubishi performance models. The Mitsubishi Raider pickup was one of the other recent joint efforts between the Chrysler Group and Mitsubishi, having been based on the Dodge Dakota…and there have been many, many other Dodgeubishi’s over the past 30 years including the likes of the Dodge Stealth and the TSI Conquest.
While I don’t know that I would pick the sport wagon over the normal Evo sedan, I can certainly see the cool factor of driving a performance model that isn’t available in the US while living outside of the country. Click here to check out some more pictures of Norge’s Evo!
