The Chrysler Group has just announced that the 2013 Dodge
Charger sedans fitted with all wheel drive will benefit from a new Sport package
that will be available for the SXT, SXT Plus, R/T and R/T Plus.  Chrysler has introduced this package after seeing
the popularity of the Charger Blacktop package that adds a dark flare to the
rear wheel drive Charger SXT.  The AWD
Sport package goes a step further – offering some upgrades to the inside and
outside to spice up the winter-ready 2013 Chargers.

The 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport package adds a unique gloss
black version of the crosshair grille with matching surround, 19 inch aluminum wheels
with a polished face and gloss black painted pockets, all season performance tires,
steering wheel mounted shift paddles, a unique sport mode for the automatic
transmission, a body colored spoiler and sport seats in either black cloth (SXT
and R/T models) or two tone black and red heated Nappa leather (SXT plus and
R/T plus models).  Finally, the AWD Sport
package adds the studio quality Beats By Dre audio system that includes five 3.5″
speakers, four 6×9″ speakers, an 8 inch speaker and an 8 inch dual voice coil subwoofer.  As factory systems go, the Beats system is
cutting edge technology that will shake the car like few others in the US
market.

The 2013 Dodge Charger SXT and SXT Plus is powered by a 3.6L
Pentastar V6 sending out 300 horsepower to all four wheels via an 8-speed
automatic transmission and an active transfer case that can disconnect the
front drive components for improved fuel economy when you don’t need to power
all four wheels.  The 2013 Charger R/T
and R/T Plus is motivated by the 5.7L Hemi V8 that sends 370 horsepower and
395lb-ft of torque to all four wheels via a 5-speed automatic transmission and
the same advanced all wheel drive system that is found in the Pentastar powered
sedans.

The 2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport package is available for
order now and production of these models will begin later this month – running through
February 2013 with vehicles being delivered during and after that production
period.  Like all other modern Dodge
Charger sedans, the AWD Sport models will be produced at the Chrysler Group’s Brampton
Ontario Production Facility.

The new AWD Sport package for the 2013 Dodge Charger SXT and
SXT Plus carries a price of $1,395 while the 2013 Charger R/T and R/T Plus AWD
Sport package adds $1,195.  Full pricing
is included below, not including the $995 destination fee.

2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport (based on SXT) $32,690
2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport (based on SXT Plus) $34,690
2013 Dodge Charger AWD Sport (based on R/T) $33,690

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
