Meet the Most Powerful, Fastest Three-Row SUV Currently in Production

Hot rod-loving families rejoice. You no longer have to opt for dreadful and boring three-row SUVs that suck the life out of you, but quite the contrary. The Dodge Durango has always been a staple of the Dodge lineup, and with the rapid expansion of large SUVs, we don’t see it going anywhere anytime soon.

In fact, Dodge is doing even bigger things with the new SUV. What are those big things? Stuff a 392 cubic inch Hemi V8 under the hood, give it a wider body, stiffer springs, and Brembo brakes. If the new Durango sounds badass, it’s because it is!

We here at Dodge Forum recently had the opportunity to get up close to the 2018 Dodge Durango SRT at the 2017 Chicago Auto Show, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Despite the vehicle being somewhat off-limits even to the press, we couldn’t help but stare at its wide wheel arches, beefy brakes, and sinister-looking front end. We even fired up a Facebook Live feed to share it with all you Dodge Forum fans!

What’s officially the most powerful and fastest three-row SUV in production knocked out a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA)-certified quarter-mile time of 12.9 seconds, and it’s capable of 0-60 mph acceleration in 4.4 seconds! Truly impressive figures for most sports cars, let alone a six-passenger SUV. And yes, we said six and not seven (like most Durangos) because so far Dodge has only promoted it with two captain chairs in the second row instead of a bench seat.

Furthermore, all customers who purchase a Durango SRT will receive one full-day session at the Bob Bondurant School of High Performance Driving. Though we are wondering if they’ll let you squeeze a few more passengers in the back seats?

“The new 2018 Dodge Durango SRT is America’s fastest, most powerful and most capable three-row SUV,” says Tim Kuniskis, Head of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles’ NAFTA Passenger Car brands. “This is what you get when you take everything great about the Durango and combine it with the performance of the Charger SRT: a 12-second quarter mile, toy-hauling, three-row muscle car.”

There will be more to come on this badass SUV in the weeks and months to come, so stay tuned to Dodge Forum!
