In this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage, we get an up-close look at SpeedKore’s 1970 Dodge Charger “Tantrum.” SpeedKore, based out of Wisconsin, showcases their exquisite carbon fiber work done to this classic Charger. Outside features a unique exposed carbon fiber look that fades to black paint to showcase their carbon fiber parts, but also to stay on the side of subtlety. The carbon fiber theme continues inside, with custom door panels and other parts that are all tastefully done.

The real highlight is located under the hood. 552 cubic inches worth of Mercury Marine V8 is nestled in the engine bay, assisted by no less than two 94mm turbos. In total this is a combination that produces 1650 horsepower. A Tremec 6-speed with 3.73 rear end handles converting the power to the wheels, which is something an off-shore racing boat normally doesn’t have to handle. Finding the right transmission was one hurdle to overcome, as well as cooling the 9-liter boat engine. Baer 6-piston calipers help to slow down all of that motor.

Once Jay goes for a ride, he finds out what the Tantrum is all about. With an intimidating motor and curvaceous mountain roads, he has the ride of a lifetime.
