In the world of watching drag racing, the only thing better than watching a Dodge tear apart a Ford, Chevy or import brand is watching a pair of classic Dodge performance cars going head to head. This week’s Mopar Muscle Thursday clip features one such race, with a seriously built 1968 Dodge Charger racing overseas against a 2nd generation Dodge Viper GTS coupe. Due to the unusual nature of what is obviously a race track outside of the US with no win light or scoreboards, it is hard to see which of the Dodge performance cars wins the race…but that doesn’t make watching these two titans square off any less exciting.
We don’t know much about the Dodge Charger and Dodge Viper GTS in action in this video but I would guess that the Charger is heavily modified and powered by a big block Mopar V8 while the Viper sounds to be much more mild – presumably stock or near stock. It also looks like the Charger might have some mechanical issues as it smokes a bit as they move down what seems to be a very, very long track, but there is no question that this Charger sounds awesome before the during the early parts of the race. In fact, it is so awesomely loud that when the Charger revs the engine, the microphone on the camera breaks up a bit.
Crank up your speakers and enjoy this clip of two classic Dodge performance cars going head to head!
