Show Cars of the Past: ’81 Cordoba “Superbird” for Sale

I can’t even remember the last time that I saw a Chrysler Cordoba for sale, let alone one with a “Superbird” kit on it. But here it is. It looks like it was made from ideas that had expired in the 1970s, and the current Craigslist seller even has no problem calling it ugly. That said, they guarantee that it’ll get looks everywhere you go, but I’m skeptical about what would back up that guarantee.

Anyhow, the car isn’t a total basket case, but it has been sitting for over 20 years. Paint is clearly fading, some rust has developed, and the tires are dry rotted. It’s slant six still runs though, and is said to be smooth. But with the length of time that it sat, it would be worth checking everything over. That is if you’re willing to part with $4,800 for it, or trade something nice.

It makes you wonder where some of the old show cars have gone to. Show cars like this have obviously existed in some form or another for decades, but they all seem to have disappeared like last year’s cell phone. Maybe for the better?
