Today’s Tech Thread Spotlight features a discussion originally posted by DodgeForum member donkeypunch back in June of 2012, which lists what tires sizes you can run on the 3rd generation Dodge Dakota relative to what type of lift you are running – and how much trimming of body panels you will need to do to make the tires in question fit. As you can see from his signature picture (shown above), he has obviously done some work to his own 2006 Dakota to fit a set of monster skins under the truck – creating one mean looking Dodge pickup.
The 3g Dodge Dakota tire fitment thread begins by listing the stock available tire sizes for that generation of midsized pickups before moving to those tires that will fit with the stock ride height and “slight trimming”. Donkeypunch then runs through the tire sizes that will fit with a 1.5-2.0 inch suspension lift and both serious to minor trimming followed by a 1.5-2.0 inch lift with a 3 inch body lit. Basically, no matter what type of ride height you expect from your 3g Dakota, this thread can tell you what size tires will fit your truck in the various suspension and body lift scenarios.
