One of the key attractions each year at the massive Chryslers at Carlisle car show in Pennsylvania is the burnout competition and this week’s Tire Shredding Tuesday clip takes a look at a 1969 Plymouth Barracuda doing a gigantic smokey burnout at the huge Carlisle event. This Cuda roasted the tires for more than two full minutes and thanks to the special tires used for this burnout competition, the smoke produced with bright, bright red rather than the normal grayish white.
As the video showing this 69 Plymouth Barracuda destroying a set of tires crosses the two minute mark, pay close attention to the fact that the red tint of the smoke fades to gray as the specially formulated rubber tread has been completely depleted. Shortly after, this Barracuda blows out the right rear tire – which draws an expectedly excited response from the crowd and the announcer. The combination of the incredible length of this burnout, the unique bright red smoke and the blown tire allowed this Barracuda to win the 2009 Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals burnout competition and if you spend three minutes watching the video – it isn’t hard to understand why this Mopar muscle car deserved the win.
