This week’s Truckin Fast Wednesday clip features a 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 racing on an 8th mile drag strip against a 4th generation Dodge Viper SRT10 Roadster. At first, that probably sounds like a race that will end up in a Viper handing out a good, sound beating but when you factor in a heavy dose of high performance modifications to that Ram – this race goes a bit differently than you would expect.
Unfortunately, this race between the 2g Cummins Ram and the 4g Viper takes place at one of those unofficial, temporary race tracks so there is no scoreboard and probably no timing system…so we don’t know how Truckin Fast this Ram might be. We really can’t even tell who wins the race, but through the thick diesel smoke we can see that this Ram at least keeps things close – and it looks like the Ram might get to the 8th mile mark first. Even though there are no elapsed times or trap speeds available, we know how fast the Viper SRT10 is and any Ram truck that can keep up with a Viper has to be pretty quick.
Best of all, this video has great sounds of both the tuned diesel Ram and the V10 Viper (at least until the noisy import racing next gets into the burnout box), so make sure that your speakers are cranked up and enjoy!
