Video Proof the Charger Hellcat can Maul the 200-mph Barrier

Isn’t it amazing you can walk into your Dodge dealership and plunk down the cash for a four-door family hauler/200-mph-barrier mauler? Isn’t it even more amazing you only need to plunk $63,995 to do so?

And then consider the nearest competition, the BMW M5, which has a starting price of $93,600, is electronically limited to 155 mph, oh and did I mention it’s $93,600?

Alright, if you’d like, you can tick an option box on the M5’s build sheet that bumps up the top speed to 190 mph, but if we do the motorhead math, it’s abundantly clear 190 mph is not as great as 206.9 mph. Yes, the 2015 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat can hit a top speed of 206.9 mph.

You’re probably saying, “Yeah, but that’s probably with the wind going down a hill.” OK, you’re half right. That speed was recorded while driving with the wind, but when Dodge tested the Charger SRT Hellcat’s top speed against the wind, it was able to pull off 202.2 mph.

Average both those numbers, and the Hellcat sedan’s official top speed comes out to 204.55 mph. Aaa-merica.

Oh, and right now is probably the appropriate timing to say, “In your face, Ford.”

You see, back in 2013, Ford claimed the 662-horsepower Shelby GT500 maxed out at 202 mph at the famed Nardo test track in Italy — that’s the same place they’ve been maxing out Lamborghinis for ages. Motor Trend wanted to validate Ford’s claim, so they took a GT500 to Nardo. Um, yeah, they couldn’t break 200 mph.

So instead of just making a claim about the Charger SRT Hellcat’s top speed, Dodge wanted to accompany their claims with video proof. They brought the 707-hp Hellcat sedan to the 7.5-mile Transportation Research Center test oval in Ohio, and produced the moving-image art you are about to see.

There’s nothing like video proof that the Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat is the quickest, fastest, most powerful sedan ever, and if your anti-Dodge troll friends try to argue with you, just point to the evidence contained here in this article. That will shut them up.
