Coolant Smell inside?
OK i searched and didnt find anything . since it has gotten colder out Ive had to use the heater now. When i first turn it on i get a Strong smell of Coolant inside the cab it goes away after about 20 secs. then i still smell a slight bit of coolant. Ive checked the radiator and expansion tank they are both full . What would cause this ? I had this happen on an Older Vw i had but dont recall what the cause was ...
THanks in advance.

If you know someone or a shop that has a CO sniffer, you may be able to verify if it is a head gasket. When I blew mine I was able to sniff CO in the radiator when the cap was off, confirming that the head gasket was leaking and exhaust was getting into the cooling jacket.

You may have a small enough leak in the core that will give you that great sweet smell but not a big enough leak to get the floor wet. It may be small enough that you are dripping out the drain. Getsomething flexable like a pipe cleaner, put it in drain (make sure it is long enough) and move it around in there. If it comes back looking green or wet, there's your problem.
