torsion/shackle lift

RE: torsion/shackle lift
Very very simple to do.
1. Jack up the rear of the vehicle and support the FRAME with jackstands.
2. Lower the jack and pull it out. (Wheels should not touch the ground)
3. Remove the REAR shackle bolts (If you have a hitch, that will have to be removed first.)
4. Then the spring will actually go up. (You would think that it would drop down, but it doesn't)
5. Remove the stock rear spring shackle
6. Replace with the new shackle (It's actually a lowering shackle for a Chevy pick-up)
7. You will need a bottle jack for this step. Place a bottle jack in between the frame and the leaf spring and raise it untill it comes down low enough to replace the rear spring shackle bolt. You will need to buy some washers for spacers because the shackles are slightly wider than the spring.
8. Do the same thing to the other side and you're done! (with the rear)
9. Lower the rear and raise the front of the vehicle
10. With a large breaker bar tighten the torsion bar adjustment 8 equal turns. (mark your starting point) This will raise the front of the vehicle to match the rear.
11. Do that to both sides and lower the front.
12. Measure from the ground to he bottom of the fender (at the wheel) Make sure that distances are equal.
That's It!

RE: torsion/shackle lift
The link above is bad, I am currently doing this lift and it is coming along fine, here's my before pics and I just finished cranking in the front, just got my lowering/lift shackles from 4 wheel Parts. I ordered the 2" lowering shackle for an 89 Chevy C1500. I couldn't stand the gold color so I painted them black.

RE: torsion/shackle lift
Frontend before and after, I got just about 2" total out of the front. Wife's gotta have the truck again today so I climbed under it and made sure the bolts aren't rusted in, I'm going to put them on when she gets home, should post more pics tommorrow after I lift the rear.

RE: torsion/shackle lift
Done with the shackles took 4 flat washers per side like mentioned, I split the difference with 2 on each side of the shackle to center it. The springs required no washers at all, was pretty straight forward. I used my sissors jack to spread the spring away from the frame to be able to align the holes. My wife has always enjoyed the higher profile vehicles so she'll be happy with it. The on e thing I did do was to make sure that the bolts were not rusted on, I loosened each bolt and tapped it out just a little to see if they were stuck. Fortunatly they all came out very easily.
