Default new plugs= less power

i just put in a set of 3923 spark plugs along with an upstream o2 sensor, and the truck feels a bit more doggy since i did it. i reset the computer, so ill give it a tank or so then see if it gains it back once the computer levels itself off again.

anyone have their pickup do this to them?

BTW its hitting -25 tonight with a windchill of over -50, so i am skipping class in the morning and most likely not be driving the pickup until she warms up a bit. starts great down to -18 then below that she sounds like it hates me and gets a little stifff, so i try to leave it set until the temp rises a bit.

Holy crap, and I thought South Dakota was cold right now. You guys over in Minnesota are getting hit a bit harder, aren't ya?

I hope you're using a thinner oil like 5w-30.

EDIT: Sorry, didn't address the spark plug question. I know a lot of guys here like their Autolites, but I prefer to use either Champions or NGK plugs. I am currently using NGK Iridium plugs. A little expensive, but I could feel the difference slightly when I replaced the original plugs that were in there. (Although that was probably mostly due to the fact that the plugs had not been touched for almost 60,000 miles and not so much the special, super duper magical iridium.)

If I ever have to replace the NGKs, I might just use Champion's Truck plugs, Champion Platinum plugs, or something along those lines.

See, now with the Iridium plugs, you can go 60,000 miles and have a minimal loss in power. Interval on those is about 90K-100K miles.

As for the loss in power, i'd check plug wire connections and check the O2 sensor connection. Also, make sure it's seated firmly in the bung.

That's quite impressive for mileage out of the battery. You might want to check it for voltage under a load. Sometimes when a battery still works but is weak, it will cuase some lack of performance in the ignition. Add to that the unbelievably cold temps you're enduring, your battery must be struggling.

Not trying to steal the spotlight, but has anyone here ever tried the plugs that Autolite lists for the Ram? 5224's...just wonder if they are good. Funny, though, because it's the same plug listed for my wife's Mazda 626...[sm=wtf.gif]
