Default Mopar M1 intake

I am checking out what a PITA it is to replace the bottom of the intake gasket. I also read that the M1 intake gets rid of this flaw. Has anyone here installed or used it on their truck? My other question is, does anyone have the part number for this intake, Is it available anywhere but Mopar parts, and is there any downfall to using it?
Thank you in advance.

I had mine installed last week in my 318, and for the very reason you mentioned: the plenum gasket. I could have just had the gasket replaced, and/or bought an aluminum plenum plate, but it made more sense to me to eliminate a gasket (i.e., potential point of failure) if I could easily do so. I got mine, along with the installation kit, directly from my local MOPAR parts counter. Part #'s are P5007398AB for EGR version, P5007852 for non-EGR, and P5007638 is the installation kit (no gaskets included). I seem to have lost a little low-end torque, but it's only a subtle change. In no way did the switch negatively affect everyday driving, and I still enjoy "gettin' on it" several times a day.

When you installed that, was there a significate weight difference? The M1 looks like it would weigh a ton less. So fit and everything was good. I figured that you would lose a little low end, seeing as how the air is like straight in there, not down, then around, then in. I will be going supercharged within the year so I am thinking that will really improve that too. Do you happen to have any good pictures of it before and/or after being installed? I have seen a few, but they are all installed on the truck. Thank you so much for your help

what exactly is the benifit to getting this M1 intake if you lose low end torque? also, how do you tell if you need EGR or without?

the m1 is really designed for use on hi rpm motors, it lets the motor breath really well above 3000 rpm. For a 4x4 or heavy truck you can get a large turtle to mount on the egr version that helps bring back low end loss...
