Thats pretty sweet! I've never seen that before. I wonder if they put those huege tires on there then got the flares for the dually's afterwards for looks.

I've seen one like this before. One of the guys at a local car shop used to have a dropped dually with a similar setup. All they do is swap out the 2 rims for a super wide rim...

I know that the truck I saw was a dually, because I had seen it several times before it was dropped/bagged. Socha_62 could very well be right about them slapping the flares on that one....but since from those two pics you cant really tell if its had any fab work....it could go either way..

That is pretty bad ***, if that truck actually towed anything, such as a 5th wheel, would that wheel and tire hold up?

yeah, i ahvent seen it on a pickup but they are running them on 18 wheelers and such. they apparantly handle better. seen 'em goin down the highway quite often. i would think that they would do excellent with a 5th wheel/gooseneck

The reason you are seeing them on 18 wheelers again (this is the second generation of super singles, the first generation was a flop because they were horribly designed and had a very high failure rate) is because of weight. Look at what rigs you see them on, tankers, canadian spread reefers and flatbeds. These have a significant weight savings over conventional duals and the new generation super singles has the quality that standard tires do. That being said, most big rig drivers (myself included) prefer the standard dual tires for several reasons:
1.) Blowout - you blow out one tire on a dual setup, the other will carry it to the next repair shop
2.) Wet performance -Duals consistantly perform better in wet to flood like conditions, same for snow.
3.) Cheaper - Only the owner operators have to worry about this, but super singles are more expensive in initial cost and to replace over standard duals

I'd prefer the dual rear wheel for towing,
but I bet that single wheel can really hook up offroad.

I don't have any pics but here in my town there is a old man with a similar setup on his dually. Except it is a 2nd gen dodge. I have never met this guy but he is my hero. I have seen him race corvettes and beat them.
