Default Limited Slip Differential Fluid?

Got a question for you fella's. It's my understanding that the "Limited Slip Differential Fluid" is going for 18.00 per 4 fl oz.
Now, i try my best to make sure that my Ram gets all of the right fluids, but the way the economy is right now, if i can save a couple of bucks, and still purchase a quality fluid, i will do it.
Is this the only " Limited Slip Differential Fluid" we can use in our trucks? Can it purchased cheaper?
One other question. Is all Limited Slip Differential Fluids the same?

Thats a good price. according to the manual, when adding the fluid to the rear differential you need to add 5oz of this Differential fluid in addition to the 75W-90GL 5 gear lubricant. Now at the dealership, the bottles only come in one size. 4oz. and inorder to have 5oz, you need to purchase 2 bottles at 18.00 dollars a piece......

is the one you purchased from Advance Auto compatiable with the Mopar brand?

I usually pay $4.95 to $5.95 a bottle.

My manual says 4oz....get a new manual. Mine's an 04, I don't imagine it's different. Buy the Mopar junk, or drop the coin for some Royal Purple or Amsoil.

Link to d/l new manual....pg 351 is where I am looking.

75w-90 is the front diff. Unless it's LSD as well (possible but not likely) the additive only needs to go in the rear diff. The stuff I bought at Advance is Trans-X, made by CRC Chemical.

Judging from some of the answers given. I guess it would be same to assume that all Diff. Fluids are compatible...Am i right on this?

Well, according to the shop manual, it must be synthetic, 75w-140 rear, 75w-90 front. LSD additive (four ounces if at stock capacity). When you pop the cover, make sure the c-clips are not floating around. Hopefully, they're in the bottom of the pumpkin, out of the way. If so, MAKE SURE you get all the parts out. If they're still in the clutch packs, you may need to remove them so they don't cost you $$$ later.
