Default Where is the Voltage Regulator?

I called the local dealer and they said that the voltage regulator is located in the computer. Is this right? Is it not on the alternator? I ask because my car idles at around 600rpm and it's ticking me off. I thought maybe i needed a new voltage regulator. I've had the alternator checked and they said that was fine.

Nope the PCM controlls voltage regulation.

As for your idle, most Neon's idle at 600-700 RPM and voltage has nothing to do with it.

If you want a higher idle then drill a tiny hole in the butterfly plate on the throttle body. The larger the hole the higher the idle...

Hmm, some pre-'90s cars had adjustable voltage regulators on the alternator... a lot of cars after that had fixed voltage regulators built in to the alternator... I wonder why DCX would put in IN the PCM? Fear of "tampering" of it by the owner?

The Electronic Voltage Regulator (EVR) is not a separate component. It is actually a voltage regulating circuit located within the Powertrain Control Module (PCM). The EVR is not serviced separately. If replacement is necessary, the PCM must be replaced.

Like I said... it sucks that the EVR/PCM is combined. One less DIY repair for the Neon to add to the service list lol...

Thank you all for your help! Would someone be able to tell my where the throttle body gasket is located? I'm wondering if that fell off when I put my cold air intake on and im having problems finding a site that shows where it is.
