Sugar in 2004 Dokota 4.7 fuel system
Some moron put sugar in my gas tank. I had a mechanic drain/clean the tank. He reinstalled
the fuel pump after cleaning the filter. It started up after the 3rd crank and idled like it was new. The pressure of the fuel pump was 43psi
and it checked against factory specs. He took my truck for a test drive around the block and the truck stalled and now it’s worse than when I first brought it in. I bought a new fuel pump but am afraid to install
it without doing some research first.
1) Will the 2 fuel filters stop the sugar from getting into the fuel injectors/engine?
2) Should the mechanic have flushed the fuel lines before he reinstalled the tank?
3) What else should I have replaced before I drive
out of the mechanics shop that might save me from buying a new engine?
Note: I did research other peoples experiences who had the same problem as well as
Mythbusters. Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you fix it?
