Default 2000 dodge front wheel bearings

i have a dodge ram 1500, 2 wheel drive, 5.9 litter, and need some help with my wheel bearings. when i take my hub off, the outer bearing comes out easy. the inner bearing does not seem to come out at all. i cannot tell, does it? when i call different places to get info, no one knows. all say, it looks like i have to buy the whole bearing/hub assembly. mmmmm, the tappered bearings in other things run about $8 to $12. the assembly i enquire about runs about $150. gee......you see why i seek help. the nut holding the hub assembly doesn't even have a locking pen on it, nor even a hole for a pen, like i have seen before. any diagram, or instructions on doing all this would help me. thanks an awful lot for your help, Jimmy

i think your '00 2wd has the unitized bearing like my 4wd. it sounds like your bearing has separated, which is bad. its not like the old fashioned inner and outer that only cost $10. its also a bitch getting the bearing out of the knuckle. the nut should be be torqued to 175#, so there is no cotter pin.

They have a cotter pin. Well, at least all the 4wd ones I have dealt with do. Dont know much about the two by fours though.
