That is what my dealer says. That cannot be right.

I have NEVER heard of a vehicle with no fuel filter. They claim it's in the tank it never needs to be changed. I know fuel pumps in tanks have a sort of screen, but that only stops the large stuff. There is always a small micron filter in line. I normally do work on my truck myself but with the weather and my schedule, i had the truck in for some warranty work and asked about changing it and they claim, there is none. Please, somebody out there has to be able to back up that the dealer is an idiot.

I am going to check the manual when i pick up the truck, but i figured maybe somebody would know.

 

Chrysler designed my old jeep the same way, the filter was not so much in the tank but sitting right on top of it, on the fuel pump. And because it's such a pain in the --- to get to for most people, they recommend replacing the pump as well if the filter needs to be changed.

 

Yeah i was going to change my fuel filter as well and I asked a friend who is a mechanic at the local dodge dealer and he told me that the fuel filter is part of the fuel pump and in order to change the fuel filter you have to change the whole fuel pump. i think that is a really stupid idea. $10 to change a regular fuel filter and $300 to change the fuel filter on a dodge lol.

Yeah. I looked it up as well and it says you may need to change it, but makes no mention of where it is or even if there is an interval to do it.

I cannot think of any rational reason as to why the engineers at Chrysler would stop installing a fuel filter on a vehicle? It makes absolutley no sense at all. Now, instead of 20 minutes and a $20.00 part you have to spend hundreds and labor and drop the fuel tank? This is the last Dodge i am buying.

Just think of how many people out there never even change their fuel filter until they have some sort of related fuel trouble! LOTS! Probably 95%

 

Ford and Gm do the same thing, we can go back to carbs and inline flue filters, Flue injection needs pressure, the best way to do this is right at the flue tank.

Less chance of outside nastys getting into the flue system and I would wager this has something to do with emissons and the computer running the go game.

My 06 is my first dodge truck, I'm sticking to the Dodge game plan !!!

 

The only reason I can see for DCX to put the filter in the tank is to make money. There's a lot less people that have the knowledge and/or time to drop the tank...so off to the dealer it goes. I believe GM still has theirs in-line bolted to the inside of the frame...sometimes I wish I stayed in a chevy

 

I'd put my money on production line speed as the reason, it's a lot faster to throw something together if it's modular.

 

soooo..im guessing its the same for the 07's then. cuz i got about 16 thousand on mine and thought about changin mine but didnt know where it was. guess this answers my question
