Exclamation Gas Tank Removal

Does anyone have any tips on a gas tank removal as i have to replace my gas tank i already have the tank i have to take out my old one and put the new one in any help?


I have never done this before so any help is great thanks

lol....i take it no one has ever replaced there gas tank before?


you have to be kidding me neons are known for all sorts of problems someone has to have replaced a gas tank

Drain the tank first....other than that, it's pretty straightforward!

1 - Disconnect Battery
2 - Drain tank
3 - Disconnect lines going to fuel pump assy. (Accessible from under the passenger's side right infront of rear tire)
4 - Disconnect electrical connection to fuel pump assy.
5 - prop up gas tank
6 - remove two straps holding the gas tank in. Single bolt for each strap.
7 - Lower tank carefully enough to reach around and remove the filler neck.

Install it in reverse direction.

I've had every problem I've ever seen posted in here so far and have successfully fixed...just might take some time to remember how i fixed it.

thanks sabin and i hear ya bout all the problems my 95 ran into all the problems known to man but come to find out it was a lemon lol..but i got a 96 now and so far havent really ran it to much but havent had problems with it yet....

nice lol...gotta love those ones lol...I have to replace the trans in my camaro before i can drive it again but thats only the 1st trans and it has like 120k on it lol..

Yah you can get away with that in GA but not here in MI to much salt in the winter. unless it is a summercar only.

true there is alot of salt up here in the north i ran it in the winter but this past winter was its last winter that why i bought the neon so i can drive that while i fix my camaro and to use it in the winter and have a gas sipper lol.
