axel ratios
Hey! Would love as much input as possible. I've been told to avoid the 3.21 axel ratio. The ram I'm looking at right now has this ratio. I was wondering if anyone else has this and how they like it. Does it really make a big difference if I go with a different axel ratio. I'm just looking to cruise and not really do heavy towing or anything like that. THANKS AGAIN!

not to be a jerk, but a good start would be to spell it axle and not axel...
other than that there are numerous threads on here about gearing, the search function can pull these up. This way we don't have a million threads about the same thing and can keep all the good info in one spot..

I have the 3.21 gears and seems to be fine. I pull a 21' pontoon [ not heavy but catches a lot of wind]. I wanted the limted slip but could not get them unless you moved up to the 3.92? I drive about 3000-3500 a month and haul some material and ladders. I have the RAMBOX and really like working out of those boxes.
When I had my chevy 2006 ext. cab . it had the 5.3 v/8 and 3.30 gears , never had a problem.

sir, please go test drive a TRX, all of those have 3.92 gears .. you will NEVER go back to 3.21's or what ever gears you have now ..

I think it depends on the tire size. I have the 20" wheels (33" tall tires) and the 3.92 LSD. With that combo, the highway gearing was better (lower erpm) than my Dakota with 3.55 and smaller tires. Also don't forget that with the traction control, you will have electronic LSD via the brakes applied to a spinning wheel.
