You said it goes away when you turn left. What happens when you turn right? It sounds like a wheel bearing though. If it were a CV, you usually get more of a grinding/clunking/popping noise due to the dirt/sand/rocks getting into the joints of the CV. If you turn right and the noise gets louder, it is most likely your LEFT wheel bearing.

If you have access to a lift. You can raise the car, start it, put into drive. You should not need to push the gas pedal, the wheels should start to spin on their own (you may have to stop the opposite side wheel from spinning while doing this.). You can then listen for the noise.
