It causes a horrible death to your truck, get rid of it now before it's too late!!!

If you look all the way back on the passenger's side of the engine bay, there is the PCM, you can tell by the three large sets of wires going into a metal box with a black plastic cover. On the metal part, there might be a sticker on it that says "Authorized software update," with a date on it. If you have that sticker, you have the death flash.

They may have authorized the demise of your truck...you'll never know when until you get rid of it!

or on your radiator support there will be a similar sticker, i assume that you know about our leaky plenums? the death flash was a reprogram that took out a few degrees of timing so that the truck wouldnt ping when the plenum was shot instead of fixing the plenum.....if you have it you have about 3 options
1- do the cps mod (search for it)
2- get a tuner
3- find a stock pcm without it
