Question 318 timing?

what is the timing for 318 with SCC? I have heard alot of different things, what is right?

86 318 12 degrees before top dead center except for high altitude, california and heavy duty which is 8 degrees BTDC.
From Chilton's manual.

does it not say what the timing should be on the underside of the hood?
