High pitched whine at high rpms
Hey fellas.
I am completely stumped...
I have a 04 4.7 and everytime when I give it all its got when I get close to 5k rpms I hear a high pitched whine that gets louder as the rpms go higher until it shifts. The whine is louder than my exhaust and I dont have a aftermarket cai or turbo. (I wish) But can anyone explain this noise and how I could maybe get rid of it?
Thanks

Why not have someone rev the engine while you listen under the hood. If you do not hear it then, it's a drive line problem. I have had two situations that caused a whine. The frist was the power steering pump. The power steering cooler rusted through causing a pin hole leak. Never saw a drip unit I investigated why I was low on AFT4+. The bearing went out on my alternator at 59K this spring. These wide belts are hard on bearings.
