Default crew cab vs. quad cab...

sorry for the dopey question; but whats the differance?

i thought my window sticker said CC, but the vin# indicates a QC according to my insurance.
i just had someone break out my rear door window and that is what has started my confusion.

The Quad Cab has a small back seat, and a 76" bed. The Crew Cab has a large back seat, and a 67" bed.

Explained better...(seats are the same size) if your knees touch the front seat you have a quad cab. If you have a few inches of knee space you have the crew cab. The doors are full size compared to 3/4 size.

had similar issue, mine is a true crew cab but on my insurance card it says QC. I called and they said it says crew in their system just abreviated wrong on card. so i guess there is a lot of confusion.

You also get the storage bins in the floor in a crew cab, according to my expert backseat testers, my 18 year old 6 foot son and my almost as tall daughter, they say the seat have a better lean to them so they are more comfortable and it's nice to not have your knees against the back seat. Front seat passengers can be comfortable also without having to worry about the people in the back. I think you get a 6x9 speaker also in the rear doors instead of a 6.5 round, although that is not necessarily a bonus since a lot of people like to upgrade to component speakers. No biggy to fill in the hole a cut a new one, can use mdf, or some heavy plastic...plexiglass I guess?

Funny thing - when I first started looking at the Dodge it took a little while to sink in that there was a difference between the QC and CC. I thought they were the same until I realized what Dodge did. They made two different models. I'm not sure why they would make 2 different models, but that could be an entire different thread.

If you didn't do your homework it could be easy for someone to just think the Quadcab is the defacto. People could have thought that Dodge called their 4 door a Quadcab because Ford called theirs Crewcab.

So imagine someone going to the dealer and looking at the quadcab thinking it's the only 4 door Dodge has and buying it just to realize the salesman didn't tell you about the crewcab. And they realize this after they get home.

I wonder if anyone out there has ever made that mistake.

i think they should get rid of the door handles on the quad and make them open like the old extended cab trucks...

that would be a true sport look

like this

i went to the dealership and told him i wanted a truck (just like my '06 sport; which i thought was a cc) and apperantly ended up with a smaller back seat.

oh, and i had the back door apart to change the window and it has a 6x9 speaker.
my truck has the alpine 10 speaker surround sytem if that matters.

Your 06 would be a quad cab. 2009 is the first year for the crewcab 1500
