Default Help! Van Died!

2002 Ram Van 1500, V8, just quit a mile from home after running fine for most of my 25 mile commute. No fanfare or noise, just died. Also noticed speedo went to 0 although I was going at least 30 when it happened. Battery good, has gas. checked all fuses (including the ones in the black plastic box under the hood), all look OK. Odometer blinks the mileage several times, then displays "no buS".

Can't afford another repair, just had water pump changed. Any ideas on something easy I can try?

I went back with a friend about an hour later and it started! Ran fine, everything worked. At least I don't need a tow. But what could have caused it, and should I fear driving it until I can afford to put it in the shop?

Check your battery cables. One may be loose or have some buildup on the post.

I noticed you posted this back in August. I was curious since I have a Ram Van also, did you ever figure out what the problem was?

Sure would be nice if we could post the results to problems. I'm having the same problem.

Why would you just jump at the coil? Are we throwing parts at it?
