Default Cold Weather Power Steering Noise

Hearing some squeal as I turn the wheel. It's like 20-25 degrees here. Expecting 15inches of snow tomorrow. Normal or not? Haven't heard it before but then again haven't really listened.

The steering components on the Dodges are known to go out on the later years and higher mileage vehicles but I have a 05 with 130k and no such problems. Maybe a belt needs replacing??

I live in Yellowknife NWT, in the Arctic and get normal weather of -20 to -30 all winter. Dodge does have issues and the local dealer where I work at replaces PS hoses on every Dodge we sell atleast 1-2 times a year....even my '89 cries in the morning when I go and start it!

Any leaks? hows the fluid level? If no leaks and you do have low fluid, get under the truck and squeeze the innermost tierod boots to see if there is fluid in there.

No leaks and low fluid is an internal problem that needs to be addressed.

steering is noticeably louder. Also I got a bottle of the Lucas Power Steering Fluid with Condition. But after reading the service manual the it says to use only ATF-4 in the power steering. So I was afraid to use it.

I don't think you have a problem, it just sounds like it's the cold weather. I live in Maine and when I start my truck up it will squeal for a few seconds before it warms up and gets moved around. When I pulled out of my driveway I can hardly turn my wheel but then as I get to the main road everything is back to normal.

Mine keeps making the noise though. Doesn't go away after a while of driving. I added some lucas power steering fluid before and its quieted down. I think it was low. Gonna see how it is in the morning. Already a foot and a half.
