I Have a 99' Dakota with 90k miles, 3.9L V6 auto. When I was driving it today, it would not upshift out of second gear. I restarted the truck and haven't had a problem since. I've heard that Chrysler Trans from this year will resort to second gear, if the transmission is having trouble. Is this true? I'm about to take the truck to the repair shop. Could the problem possibly be something other than replacing the whole Trans??? Thanks!
you might have lost third..I had the same thing happen to me when I lost second..my transmission only shifted out of first when I let off the throttle completely and I had to be doing at least 30 miles an hour, then if shifted strait to third
