Default RE: Mods

New pics again with simple mods. I repainted the plug cover and timing belt cover black to give it a newer look (the old pic made them look old), polished the exhaust mani cover to ready it for painting (yes, VHT), and made a cold air partition for the intake. The partition was my first go and it already looks like I will need to build another one a bit higher by the fusebox. I'll also make ramair piping down the road (no pun intended). The exhaust mani heat cover will get a dose of high temp paint of some color (haven't decided what color yet) and the chrome intake tube will get painted an anodized paint color of some sort also.
I've crushed the BOV (pressed) to help hold 21psi. I've also got a 60mm TB on my desk waiting to be install...well, actually, I'm waiting on a 2.5" TB elbow to match the TB and I/C piping.

Here's the TB and some of the thing I had to do.

It's kind of hard to see the difference, I couldn't get a good pic without the glare from the new TB.

My porting, it's even btw, the gasket isn't in the pic though.

Old TB. You can see where the aluminum tapers in towards the center. That's what was bored out and then some.

Finished pic...nothing special on the outside...it's what's inside that counts

i love the car man. it's inspiration to all of us.

i have a question though, i couldn't find anywhere on your car domain page or here that had anything to do with transmission...did you swap it out ever? it started out as an auto right? but i also wanna know how much horsepower the stock trans in the auto can handle? as you know i want to do the turbo in my venge. also, where did you get your TB? and how much power would you get out of a good aftermarket one? sorry for a possible highjack.

You're not hijacking at all. It's all related to what's already in this thread
The automatic transmission had to be removed since it didn't hook up to the 4g63 (thank god). I also wanted to drive a manual again, so a manual GSX was acquired for that issue.

The throttle body from a stock 2g Eclipse TB that was 53mm or 55mm opened to 60mm. It definitely allows more air to come into the intake manifold and quickens the throttle response.
Since there's no real aftermarket performance products for the V6, you literally have to put parts and pieces from other DCX/Mitsu cars into it.

The stock a604 tranny is a 50/50 tranny in that it may or may not handle even an ERT stage 1 turbo kit (that's just an example). The tranny shell isn't the main thing to worry about, it's the internals and what they can project out of the shell. I was just reading up on the 604 on the ERT site the other night and there's a lot more that Steve states that may help anyone understand the 604. Here's the link

wow. that link is a big help. thanks for that.

but anyways how hard if at ALL possible would it be to actually toss a manual trans into my venge? i know a clutch would have to be fabricated and stuff which seems like quite a pain. if i did, what would i get one off of and would it even work with my engine? (this is more of a highjack...apologies)

That is harder than would be expected because there are manual trannies that fit but the real issue is the crank position sensor and it's location. ERT was/is trying to correct it but it's harder than they first thought.
