Need Easy Fuel Line Repair

That looks like the same kind of end that is on the transmission lines going into the trans cooler. If it is the same then the right size of tool I ended up using in this thread https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...-question.html will remove that end. It looks like you have flares which are stops for that connector. If they connected to the filter in the same way you might be able to replace them as stock hoses. If not you could probably get a fuel line over those stops by lubing it with vaseline when you put them on and then have a clamp behind the stop. Vaseline won't affect the gas which will desolve it pretty fast.

A hose clamp will work but better to use is a fuel line clamp like this https://www.amazon.com/Fuel-Injectio.../dp/B0040CU0HM
...because they more evenly distribute pressure and doesn't have the slots that regular hose clamps have which will cause some damage to the outside of the fuel hose.
I dunno, like I said and like you can see in my pictures, I just have the fuel hose clamped onto the steel line and it works perfect for 2 years now.
Flaring the line is not a bad idea at all and in fact I cannot remember why I didn't do it...probably just wasn't thinking. and I don't think it matters what kind flare you use. Just something to make a uniform bulge in the tube, then a clamp behind the flare.
edit: also remember to use fuel injection hose...must be rated for the pressure, not vapor hose which parts stores will also have.

just looked into what's involved in flaring the tube and that's something that needs to be done on a vice; i can't see me using a flare tool with the line on the truck. may can, idk. may have to cut off a piece of metal tube, flare the end and then use what, a compression fitting to reconnect the flared piece to the rest of the the metal line?

This is what a tube flaring tool looks like. It is two pieces. One piece clamps on the tube with wingnuts and the other flares the tube by hooking around the clamp and the pointy screw end is driven into the tube to flare it. It really doesn't need a vice unless you are using unusually high strength tube steel. The first pic makes clear how it is done the second shows the two pieces. Since what Tbugden says he did is working for him for two years it is probably fine to do it his way. He hasn't steered me wrong yet.
