The biggest problem you'll run into is space. Since the 318 ws not available in these trucks until '91, the hood was shorter for the '90 and older. The way around that is to put a "pusher" fan in front of the radiator.

Motor mounts for my 318 into a dakota
So, I go ahead and get my 68 318 into the machine shop to be bored and assembled, I look at the motor mount areas compared to another 318 motor that came out of a dakota and there are no holes in the 68 block for the motor mounts(center of the block), just the front 4 ears for other mounts at the front of the motor. What the heck do I do now? is there a kit or am I missing something. I was advised in the forum that the 68 motor would bolt in. HELP!!!

.ExternalClass .ecxhmmessage P{padding:0px;}.ExternalClass body.ecxhmmessage{font-size:10pt;font-family:Verdana;}As far as I know yours does have the previsions just need to drill and tap out the holes. Here is a post on it. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen-dakota/175439-engine-swap-info.html#post1413374
http://www.engine-swaps.com/ has the motor mounts you need if you don't want to drill.
These links are in the FAQ2 in the 1st Gen. Dakota section. Under the V6 to V8 swap
If you want to you can always build your own mount. You will need to bolt up a plate to the old mount and then see what kind of bracket you need to make to connect it to the frame.
