Default 92 Dakota blower problem

Hi guys first time poster long time lurker.

Got a problem with my fan blower. Like many others my heater gets hot but my fan doesn't blow. I tried the FAQ's fix by replacing the blower resistor still nothing. I replaced the fuse and nothing and tonight I took out the motor tested it on my battery it works but still wont work when I hook it up. Any clue on what I should try next? On a side note when I switch the fan on my brake light comes on this also happens when I put it in reverse... Any suggestions would be awesome I'm stumped.

yeah I would try replacing the control unit, you've ruled out resistor, fuse and motor, control is all that's left.

Since you are getting the brake light come on at the same time, then you have a wire problem. A pinched or broken or frayed wire. Sorry to say but the only way to find it is to inspect all wires very close.
