Default 89 Dakota, 3.9l, idles ok, revs ok, runs like bogging down

I have a 89 dakota, 3.9l 2wd auto. It idles ok, revs up ok, starts ok. However, when you put it in gear, seems to floodout, rpm's drop, have to feather gas pedal up to about 35mph, then seems to smooth out and run ok (still doesn't feel quit right-not enough power). Plugs look good, but i replaced them, spark plug cables ,distributor cap, rotor button, and fuel filter...no help. Fuel injectors are spraying fuel into tbi ports when idling, appears to be equal amount. Any ideas for a novice

It sounds like it may be IAC Idle Air control valve. Or a vacuum leak or something with the EGR system.

Have you checked the catalytic converter? I had a Dodge D50 that did that. I was the cat.

I would run some injector cleaner through it first. Every so often my 90 Dakota Sport will bog a little bit and fuel injector cleaner cleans it up.

Have you run the diagnostic codes by turning the ignition key on off on off on and then watch the check engine light blink?
