The big deciding factor is the 383 I had built as replacement motor for a 69 Runner. It dyno'd at 465 hp on 9:1 compression. It doesn't owe me anything.
I have the fresh 727 as a spare for the runner also, again it costs me nothing. I have the spare 8 3/4 with sure grip 4:10 so the schumacher kit made sense.
If I want more power I can pull the 383 and build a 440.
The big reason is just because i can... as it won't cost me anything but time.
I did build a 90 Dak about 3 years ago and it was hairy to drive.
I sold it and now have a newer cleaner Dak so what the heck.
I understand and appreciate the 440 suggestion or the 408 stroker suggestion but both would cost money when I have the other set up sitting there.
That's the rest of the story lol.

Thanks for the input guys good ideas.

cheers

LOL, well that part of the story definately changes things! You can't beat free... and thats one heck of a strong motor you built! Take some pictures of the swap!

thats a good 383! the guy i know with the 440 had to take out the 4x4 stuff(or maybe it was just the easier way to go?), but thats a non issue for you. sounds like it will be a blast to drive. put a quiet exh system on it and really tear the imports a new one
