Transmission died again!
Well it happened to me again. The transmission died on me. I knew it would soon. Last year in February. I busted a transmission line and burned out my transmission. I took it to a local shop and had it rebuilt. They never did it correctly. Took it back a good 10 times. Left me stranded 2 times. They F*** it up bad. The warranty was 1yr. So here I am 6 months later after warranty ended and it died!
So I'm going to go to AAMCO and get a new one from them. I do not want this one rebuilt. I am so pissed off! So has anyone heard anything bad about them? I know they are expensive. But I learned my lesson, You get what you pay for. And I have only heard that they are the best.
And I'm going camping in 2 weeks. Hopefully I can make it.

That sucks Crazy!!!! NV3500 swap?!?! :P
I don't know much about AAMCO, but just make sure you keep the transmission cool and it should last. I can't remember if you have an aftermarket transmission cooler, but you should look into getting one if you don't. I've talked to several people who own these trucks that said they went through transmission after transmission and were finally told to get a better cooler and it made a huge difference.
I hope you get that truck up and running again soon!

Ya I got 2 transmission coolers! Ever since that place messed with it, it never acted right. Like when punching it at full throttle from 1st to 2nd it would start slipping and never shift up. That shop said that, that is the was it was suppose to be. The owner had a $100,000 Mercedes and she said it shifted better than hers. Oh yea right!
The transmission ran perfect for 3-4 yrs since I got it. Entire time on the 5.9 and extreme abuse with routine maintenance.

Their was a guy on here with a Durango that went with AAMCO. He got it replaced (IIRC) right before he moved from the northeast to Nevada. Well, he had problems on his trip, and they weren't the most cooperative. I've heard a lot of people say bad things about AAMCO. (Than again, hearing people say good things about any auto-shop is rare!)
For my transmission, I went with Phoenix in Weatherford, TX. http://www.phoenixtrans.com/ Granted, I haven't put very many miles on it (maybe 2,000) but no problems thus far.
Why not go with a NV3500 swap?

No. I keep screwing up when messing with those upper control arm bushings. So, I'm just gonna get new-to-me control arms, put the new ball joints in there, and finally get things back together. (Still need to run new brake lines from proportioning valve to each corner. I'm replacing front suspension/steering stuff as well as all brake stuff)
I'm going to my second home (sunny, tropical resort of Iraq) in October, and want to have it running by than.
