If you do a suspension lift, no steering changes will be necessary except you will need an alignment. If you do a body lift, you will have to lengthen the steering shaft and shifter linkages.

im trying to undo the bottom bolt of the old shackle and it will not twist, got the top one out and the shackle twists with some prying but the bolt twists with it like it is all one piece.
Why don't you just add a leaf? I know you wanted to do it "quickly" but, honestly why weaken the rear end? Don't longer shackles flatten the rear springs faster?
Why not take the opportunity to strengthen the rear..
sorry monkey, i added 2 leafs to each side and i could haul a small house.easy and cheap. but adding leafs to a 2 wheel drive will drop it . back to that axle under and over debate. on my 4x4 the axle is under, the more leafs the higher it goes.
by the way i'm a flyer fan so i'm not impressed about last spring! and the funny thing is i live about 70 miles from where crosby grew up.

How do you figure?? The axle sits on the top leaf, which is the one that actually bolts to the frame. When you add a leaf, you don't put it above the top leaf, so the axle won't be moved closer to the frame like your implying. Also, the extra leaf will stiffen up the leaf pack, so they will have more of their arc when weighed down, lifting the back of the truck.

yep there is no lift up or down slt on a 2x4 with extra leafs. and your right about the arc with extra leafs.

For the add a leaf it just depends on how much it bends the springs. I did on when mine was 2wd and gained 2-3in.
