Tires on wheels question

I now have 4 Pro Comp 1059 xtreme alloy rims coming my way! Now its time to get new tires. The new rims are 15X8 inches. All this time I have planning on getting 235/75R15 tires to go with those rims, but my local tire dealer said that usually the maximum width for 235/75R15's are 7" wide rims. He reccomends me getting the 70 series instead of the 75 series, but at his shop he has Dayton Timberline AT II's for $63, but does not have the 70 series in those. So my question is does anybody have 235/75R15's on 8" wide rims because those Timberlines IMO are not bad tires especially for $63 so if possible i would like to get them.

First off, the 235 is the width, not the 70 or 75... so the rim width doesn't matter as far as going with 70s or 75s. The 235s are 9.25 inches wide, so there is no reason they wouldn't fit on an 8 inch wide rim. You will get a better sidewall with a 255 though, which is what the factory 2nd gen dakotas that came with 8 inch wide rims use.

Is this a stock height truck and is it a 4x4 or 2wd? Depending on what section width you go with will determine what aspect ratio you want.

I have 8" wheels and I have had 205 on the front and 255 on the rear without a problem. The 205's are pushing it though.

Wow, 205 would be pushing it!! Those tires dont "bubble out" at all, do they?

Ok, so on a stock height 2wd, you probably don't want to go bigger than a 29" tire. The biggest stock tires they used were a 235/75/15, which is just shy of 29" outer diameter (about 28.88). So the sizes you can use that should fit are:

225/75/15 (28.29 OD)
235/75/15 (28.88 OD)
245/70/15 (28.50 OD)
255/65/15 (28.05 OD)

All of those are somewhere between 28-29". You probably don't want to go wider than a 255 cause it will rub, and you might even have problems with the 255s rubbing, but they should be fine.
