My dad and I just bought a 1993 Dakota 4x4 318 magnum for $500 The only thing wrong with it was the transfer case was blown apart.It fell out in 2 pieces when we removed it.

We have another transfer case out of my dads 91 dakota that has 231j shaft in it which is shorter than the dodge 231.The 1993 transfer case has the parts we need to make 1 working transfer case that will have the short jeep tail shaft on it.

My question is,if anybody has done this.Will the jeep cherokee drive shaft work in the dakota.The drive shaft that was in the 93 dakota is trashed,but it is about 52 1/2 inches.I know I have to use the jeep yoke because the shaft is fatter or different splines.

I know I can just measure it after the transfer case is in but it will help me narrow down my salvage yard search for the right shaft.

 

The Jeep shaft won't work. Try to see if your Dakota shaft is usable. If needed try www.craigslist.org
