Default rpm gauge

i could use some help with my 95 dodge dakota 5.2 automatic. My rpm gauge is all over the place it says im idle at 400 rpm and jumps around alot. I have changed gauge clusters and still the same. This is also the same with my non working fuel gauge it just sits on E, but i have no low fuel light. help with either of these issues would be great.

The tach could be a bad wiring problem from the PCM to the gauge. You can try to replace the crank or pickup coil but if they worn't working the engine wouldn't be running, they may just be acting up.

For the fuel gauge, most likely it is the float assembly inside the tank on the fuel sending unit. It is replaceable check the FAQ for a write up with the replacement part number since the parts stores don't have it listed.
