Default Need a 231 transfer case 92 Dakota

Transfer case crapped out on me around 6500 miles into my 7000 mile road trip.

Looking for a replacement that doesn't have a gaping hole in the bottom of it.

Details; 231 with 23 spline in / 26 out.
Series number 5209 7607
Ratio 272

I found a couple through junk yards, but the least used has 171K on it and they want way too much.

Anybody know where I can get one reasonable?

a lot is going to depend on where you are located. Have you tried this site? http://www.car-part.com/

Default Yes, less than an hour ago.

tried another site over the weekend and got three responses, but all had at least 171K miles. I'd like to get something with low miles if possible. If high miles, I'm basically buying a core that I will need to rebuild. Can't see paying more than a core charge for one of those and they want $400, plus shipping. Ain't gonna do it.

Okay, I have it sorted out now.
Hope to have this POS, ... I mean Dakota, back on the road by the weekend.

Not too happy it decided to blow out going around Shasta Lake, CA on my way back to Seattle. Now the trany or something else will probably blow out...
Cheers,

Thanks ragtop. I found a rebuilder in California. got a great deal for $595, plus $100 shipping (including return) and even took my core, with hole in it, for $100 more. I will let everyone know how it goes.
