Default 1990 dakota 3.9 info please

Hi guys i need some info please. I have found a 1990 dakota with a 3.9 auto 2wd. It has about 240,000 miles or so and has been owned by the same guy in 1998 to now. It has no rust paint bad 2 tone silver and red and has some dents etc. The motor has not been into but has had alternator, radiator water pump and timing chain. As well as a rebuilt throttle body, trans and rear end (so he says and says has paper work. I did not see that. The rear end pumpkin is wet though and shifts ok and trans fluid looks/smells good, rear main has a very slight leak but the oil pan needs a gasket and is wet and may need a oil drain plug. Have not had it looked atg though. He uses SAE 30 oil bc of milage, slick 50 many miles ago and bars leak for the rear seal The gauge for the speed bounces, The truck started up and drove food and tight but a c does not work. I will be driving it ab out 1 hr or so there and back. A mechanic told me the trans would not last. Please help me make the choice yes or no.

I'm guessing the 93 and 95 didn't pan out. From what you say I'd take a pass on it. Keep looking and do your research it may take a while but you will eventually find one that makes you happy. The last rig I bought I spent 6 or 7 months checking ads and looking at them before I found one with the right price that ran good. I got T boned about a year later (2010) and I'm still not healed up all the way. I probably never will be.
My current 94 I just bought because it was clean, dry and straight and only $900

$1500.00 also has a newer cd player with remote and a Chiltons book and a floor jack to jack it up. The cable for the spare is gone how hard is it to replace that

Pass on it you'll get angry at yourself every time you have to work on one of those things.
Always ignore the radio as long as it works, a good radio is a lot cheaper than a good mechanic and parts. It sounds like a basket case bike. Which means don't buy it unless you love it and won't resent having to work on it all the time.

look on eBay for a MT2500 I just go one and saw a couple others even cheaper. At least you'll be able to do some work and diagnostics yourself.
Here ya go http://www.ebay.com/itm/Snap-on-MT2500-SCANNER-LIKE-NEW-FORD-CHRYSLER-GM-CARTRIDGE-/281754258187?hash=item4199dccb0b&item=281754258187&vxp=mtrOr this one

I paid $329 for the one I just got.
