Question Exhaust Y-Pipe Versions? (87-96)

While trying to drop my cross-over/Y-pipe I was looking through my manual and I am confused...

For the 3.9L it shows two versions; carb & EFI

The carb version is all straight piped and the EFI has a 'second' cat converter on one side of the pipe?

My 1988 with TBI has no cat up front (like the carb version) and my 1996 OBDII EFI has no cat up front either. Was this only done between 91-95 with OBD1 multiport? I see EF1 on the chart but no EF2?
