What is the proper way to burp the 4.7 cooling system?
I tried search, but couldn't come up with consistent answers. How do you properly burp the cooling system after replacing the fluid in a 2001 4.7L? I'm assuming you run it until hot then slowly loosen the bleed screw until air bubbles come out, but I'm not sure. TIA

Look at your upper radiator hose and follow it towards the block. You will see a silver cast piece with a good sized hex screw in it. This is your bleeder screw and it says so right below the screw on the casting.

5.2s/5/9s no 'burb' really. Take the cap off, run the motor until the coolant is passing by the opening under the cap under a high flow. This means the heater core has opened and all air is passing from the block, etc, as the fluid moves around. We are looking for rapid movement of the fluid. One that happens, place the cap back on and you are done.
