Unhappy Starting issue

I am by no means a mechanic, but I bought a 1998 durango 5.2L about a month ago and for 3 weeks it ran fantastic. then one day it just stopped starting. i hooked a code scanner up to it and got back p1899, for the neutral safety switch. i had a friend of mine come and look at it and he bypassed that, and it turns out that that was fine. it won't start in park or in neutral. PLEASE HELP!!

will it try to start in other gears? have you checked the connections on the starter? do you have an aftermarket alarm or anything like that?

you could try to put 12v on the starter solenoid's wire (should be a grey connector between the PDC and the starter itself) while in park and see if the starter works.

It was indeed the neutral safety switch. My friend obviously didn't know what he was talking about. Lol.

at least it was a fairly simple fix.
